Iraqi Strategist: Iran Has Reshaped Military Deterrence, Leaving US in Deadlock

Baghdad – An Iraqi strategic researcher and international relations expert says Iran has brought about a comprehensive transformation in the region's military deterrence balance, leaving Washington facing an unprecedented operational deadlock and shattering the aura of its air arsenal.

Hawzah News Agency- Mohammed Huzaima made the remarks in an analysis of recent regional developments.

Iran's Offensive Doctrine

Huzaima said Iran's offensive doctrine has now shifted toward neutralizing and disabling US bases in the region and removing them entirely from the conflict equation — a development that has placed Washington in an unprecedented operational deadlock and shattered the aura of its air arsenal.

US Bases Under Fire

He noted that Tehran's focused strikes on Washington's bases in the Persian Gulf and Jordan — extending to Aqaba base, which was thought to be outside the range of fire — forced US Central Command to forcibly withdraw its aircraft and military equipment toward the occupied territories or return them to distant bases.

Additionally, he said, the US withdrew its bombers from Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean for fear of destruction by long-range ballistic missiles.

Aircraft Concentrated in Vulnerable Positions

Huzaima added that moving US aircraft and concentrating them inside Israeli bases and on aircraft carriers at sea has placed them in the direct line of fire and naval missiles in the Persian Gulf.

Loss of Surprise Advantage

He pointed out that Washington has completely lost the advantage of surprise attack and lightning strikes, because its bombers — such as the B-52 and B-2 stealth bombers — are detected by Iranian radars and systems developed in cooperation with Russia and China as soon as they take off from very distant ranges. This makes any military move costly and doomed to failure.

Pentagon Leaks and Internal Division

Huzaima noted that the Pentagon leak regarding a three-day attack plan is nothing more than a media maneuver mixed with doubt, as Trump is divided and confused before his advisers, knowing that Tehran today holds the initiative and has hidden surprises with hypersonic missiles such as Fattah and Khorramshahr that will change the course of battle.

The End of Safe Strikes

He stressed that the era of targeting Iran safely and securely from Persian Gulf bases is over forever, and any future adventure will set the region ablaze under the feet of US forces and their allies.

Regional Implications

The analysis reflects growing assessments among regional strategists that Iran's military capabilities — particularly its missile and air defense systems — have fundamentally altered the calculus for US force projection in the Middle East. The shift, analysts say, marks a departure from decades of US operational freedom in the region and signals a new phase in which American bases and assets face persistent and credible threats.

Huzaima's remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing debates over the US military posture in the Persian Gulf and beyond.
